Driver seat leather ripped - what to do?

Hey all - hope all your RLs are doing great ... if you don't have one what are you waiting for?

I have a question about driver seat leather rip (I will post picture later), but since it ripped on two different spots, I am guessing repair will need to be'
- take seat out
- take leather off
- repair leather or replace piece in the bottom (seat part)
- re-install leather on seat
- re-install seat into the car

My guess is: this will cost quite some money to fix so I am open to idea of simply buying used in good condition driver seat (black leather) if it goes for up to maybe $300 since it may be easier to install and replace the seat vs paying maybe even more to fix the leather and still get that - not original leather seat look.

What do you suggest and what upholstery shops you know in northern Chicagoland that I should maybe check out pricing wise and repairing the seat.

I tried searching for leather seats, but had no luck finding anything

Thanks all!!!

Taking the seat out of a car is usually pretty straight forward. I bet you could do it yourself and provide the upholstery shop with just the seat bottom to save on labor.

I would call around and get quotes from upholstery shops. For local connections, be sure to look into the "Regions" sub-forums.

Don't even get me started on this topic.
It seems most places (around here anyways) carry vinyl.

I have a rip that grows by the day. I am looking for leather and the closest possible match to the oem material.

If you find some, please let me know.

I had a similar problem with my 2nd Gen CL...

It was cheaper to just buy a whole seat from another Houston AZ crew guy (Nauman) and install the seat... ask around... someone might surprise you with a seat in their storage... LOL he even helped me with the install... took like 30 or 40mins mins!

I was hoping of finding the seat in good condition - they run for about $300 and I know replacing it would be cheaper and easier, than fixing the rip - as you may have noticed, the sit is developing other areas where rips may show up.
