Drive belt

Hello just wanted to share my crazy experience today, so here goes; I start my car like normal let her warm up and then take off. I drive 5 min to my gmas house as im turning a corner i hit a mud puddle, but barley like the edge of the tires hit it. 10 seconds later power steering gone. Then check charging system im like wtf. so i keep driving 30 seconds to gmas turn car off hop on acurazine on my mobile device; most say alternator so i get my warranty card out and start that process. then i decide to try to make it home, so i start car battery lights on i take off no power steering still, after 5 min back home sh awd light comes on so wtf idk im lost. I made it home car never died although i sense it was going too. hop back on Azine and tl forum says check drive belt sooooo i get down to look at lightweight pulley and bam belts off. so Long story short my belt slipped off my pulley after hitting a puddle. Crazy i know but its true. i put it back on all warning signals went away and car is fine.

I was thinking more along the lines of the belt being loose not the hardware.

I would check the tensioner, the belt, and the alignment of the pulley.

Is it an OEM Acura belt? I remember someone saying they had used a different belt, thought it might have been you but not sure.

That(slipping off in puddles) happens if your belt is worn or loose. And I'm sure you know now but if the battery light comes on and power steering gives out its almost always the drive belt.

I used the recommended gates belt with the UR pulley it's not loose or worn and everything looks straight as I watch it run. Maybe a new belt just to be safe but I just put this and they light pulley on a few months back

Belt is too long, our tensioners are auto tensioned

this belt was actually just a tad bit shorter than oem belt maybe because the oem belt was 50k miles on it? Not sure. if its too long why slip off once when i hit a puddle? never any symptoms ever I drive hard in the rain too and never a problem.. Im going to chalk this up as one of those rare things and forget it. If it happens again then ill start diagnostics for a problem. I think that day I just had bad luck OR someone up above needed me to stay home that day to avoid an even worse situation. Thanks for the replies and Thanks AZ for helping get the belt back on!

Reminds me of the old days when I could not aggressively drive my Corvette without all the drive belts coming off. Turned out to be just the smallest misalignment of a couple of pulleys (on the innermost belt of course). Hope your problem goes away and stays away.

bad luck : something like a small rock may have been projected with the water and slip between the belt and pulley. If it never happened before and is not happening after, there was a third party involved.
