Question Door Sensor Advice

My passenger door sensor went. I had to disconnect it. My driver door sensor still works, but I have a small rust bubble under the driver door handle. I am having the rust repaired, and they will have to take the door handle off. Should I replace the driver door sensor since the guy will be in there (Sensor cost about $200) or should I just let it be since it works and just replace the passenger sensor (no rust under passenger side)?

Thoughts? I figure I might as well since he is in there, but then it still works, and it may continue to work, so if it is not broke, should I fix it?

I don't know if anyone has tracked down the root cause of door handle issues. The sensor isn't necessarily the issue. I would consider replacing both handles completely.

By the door sensor, I did mean the total handle, part # 72141-SJA-A14ZJ

How much is the rust repair? The original handles have a flawed design. This was fixed in later years. You could potentially pay $X for rust repair, and end up with a new handle 6 months later. I would say both handles are damaged and need replacing.

The rust repair is about $200. So you are saying that the new handles I buy from my local dealer will be the improved design? I assume so, based on information on the site that says it has a new part number. It sounds like it would be best to replace both at the same time.

From everything I have read, members who replaced the handles after 2007 have not experienced any more issues.
