Door light switch question

Sorry if this has been posted before. Does the green LED in the "Door" switch (for the overhead lights to come on when the doors are opened) on the overhead console ever go out if you do not lock your RL? I like to keep my remote in the car since it is in the garage, but I do not want to run the battery down and/or burn the LED out.

The LED remains on unless you lock the doors.

I wouldn't worry about the battery. LED's use very little power (one of their big selling points) and last virtually forever.

I just got back from vacation. M car was unused for ten days (unlocked in the garage) and started right up.

I believe you can turn off the green light by turning off the "automatic interior light when you open the door" function. Just push the off switch to the right of the green light.

The footwell lights and the dash will still light up when you open the door.

Bumping an old thread - forgive me. It was the only thread on the subject I could find.

2006 RL.

Walked out into the dark garage last night and noticed for the first time the inside of the car is lit up. Figured out that the green overhead will only turn off if the overhead lights are switched to off instead of auto. Locking the car changes nothing. Does anyone know if there any other way to have it time out? I really don't want it on all the time and I would like to leave the switch in auto.
