Does new RL have "intelligent" cruise control?

You know, the kind that senses cars in front of you and slows down to maintain a set following distance? I can't find it listed in any Acura literature, but with all the other technology it's a little hard to believe they left out intelligent cruise control.

Thanks for replies. That's a shame, because intelligent CC is something I really wanted on my next car. Still, with all the other technology the RL is still in the running.

IMO, I'd think it's just the different thinking from US Acura, who believe it "might" not be the time yet to bring up that system although other car makers have set that system into their varied models. Just like MP3 stuff, lots of people believe TL should have it, but some don't think that way, and obviously Acura may think it differently, too. We don't know why.

Meanwhile, we haven't found a car which equips everything best and high-tech yet.

I think the goal was the provide as many features as possible in the RL with not options, but keep the MSRP for the car under $50,000. Based on that price point, something had to be omitted. I believe that's why the US version of the RL lacks intelligent cruise control and cooled seats.

yeah, "HiDS" (Honda intelligent Driving System)

i bet it'l be here in the upcoming MYs, 2007 perhaps. Collision Mitigation Braking or whatever it is will be here for 2006. I wonder when Honda's nightvision will make it here.

BTW, if they rename HiDS to fit it with the Acura namebrand, it'd become AiDS. Not cool..

funny!!!!

Yes the 2006 RL will be fitted with Honda's Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS) according to Honda CEO.

HiDS (Honda Intelligent Driver Support System) which includes:

LKAS (Lane Keeping Assist System)
EPS (Electric Power Steering)
IHCC (Intelligent Highway Cruise Control)

Now to the best of my knowledge, the IHCC system works together with CMBS because they both use millimeter-wave radar to function. So it would make no sense to add CMBS and not IHCC. Now LKAS uses a C-MOS camera and requires EPS system to function, so it is less likely to make it to the states.

the good news is that I live in germany and the legend is comming out in september, so maybe I will get a chance to try out these systems and maybe own them. : )
