Does anyone know what this is?

I was changing my engine air cleaner element tonight (along with the cabin air filter), and when I removed the old filter, I found this underneath it:

Does anyone know what this is? It says "HCK" on one side. Is it part of the engine? The car starts and drives normally, with no codes or error messages. Thanks.

It is an alligator or crocodile clip. HCK safety clips are usually used to test cables and leads in electronics.

HCK is Digi-Key brand, made in MN USA. So I doubt it was used by the assembly plant in Saitama. Likely a 'gift' from your tech from one of your Service Calls. Perhaps part of a diagnotic check to a sensor like the mass air flow sensor.

My guess anyway.

Now about that strange rattle you have at full throttle.......

You are a lightweight!

One morning a few years ago I had a REAL alligator under my car in the garage.

Needless to say, I have NEVER left the garage door open all night since that unfortunate incident.

Scared me in the sense that I thought I broke the car doing a (relatively) simple filter change.

Looks like a roach clip, might want to check for their stash.
