Does the Acura RL contain a "black box"?
Does the Acura RL contain a "black box"?
Been reading a lot of articles lately about the
black boxes that manufacturers are placing in
vehicles. These black boxes record your driving
habits (speed, braking, etc.) and in case of an
accident, can easily place the blame on a particular
driver and vehicle.
Most cars today have these boxes installed
unbeknownsted to the driver.
Anyone know if the Acura RL has this box installed
in its vehicle?

In this age of litigation, car manufactures & all concerned now have a witness to the accident at all times.
They been around for well over 3 years now.
State by State court cases (have) & are arising as to who has ownership of the box & its data. The owner does not in most, if not all cases.
The info these boxes are recording is also evolving as newer generations are introduced!
A simple "last stop record" will tell you MPH/RPM, throttle position & rate of decel car was going before, during & after impact. It also sequences airbag deployment in the above chain of events!
So..the days of finger pointing are quickly coming to an end....and the lawyers job is now a tad easier thanks to technology!
Just think what if Audi had a black box in their cars several years ago when the infamous "unintended acceleration" cases nearly put them in bankruptcy!
