Do you suffer from PNPS?

PNPS, also know as Phantom Noise Paranoia Syndrome is a condition best described as owning and operating a luxury sedan (the RL in my case) that runs so quietly that anytime you hear a sound, be it from a passing by vehicle, something sliding around in the door pockets, or any other foreign noises you immediately turn down your stereo, or hang up your phone to investigate, only to determine it is your own paranoia and everything is fine with your car.

I hope I am not alone with my PNPS and this has happened to others in the past.

Coming from a VW Passat, which was more noisey then the RL, I can't help but react when I hear a foreign sound...I give myself a for this, but I can't be the first one to go thru this after upgrading to the RL!

Thought this post would be a testament to the quality of the RL, and how quiet this car really is (at least in my experiences)...

I have the syndrome, but now that my RL has passed 150K miles, the sounds are coming from my car!

Little bit same here, i was going crazy because of some weird sound, it was my small LedLenser cigarette lighter connector chargeable light. It was rolling under that cup holder lowest "shelf".
I didnt realize first that it is under that and making sounds.
Our Voyager AWD 1997 is noisy, my prevoius car Audi TT was also silent, more silent than my 1993 Legend Coupe.
Now when i am thinking about this, i am pretty sure that i will notice if some of my vehicles starts to make weird noises, ATV, Bike etc.
This is connected also to my occupation, sometimes i have to listen customers engines because they think that they make weird noises

Sounds like we have a PNPS Epidemic!

Could always be worse... :theghey: Insert Seinfeld "Not that there is anything wrong with that" here...

Most recent example for me was backing out of a parking spot at a local store, when I heard this God awful grinding sound. I quickly applied the brakes and put her into P, only for the sound to continue...a few seconds later, a clunker drove by me dragging its muffler...PHEW!

Definitely, the RL has done that to me. Actually, my 1991 Dodge stealth was quieter at idle only. I could not hear or feel the motor. I can hear and feel in the wheel the motor of this car at idle. I thought that was strange. And I hear the shaft whine as well as occaisionally on the highway I hear a loud low frequency droning on certain stretches of pavement at certain speeds and it is no different with audio pilot on or off. Honestly I don't hear any difference with audio pilot on, so I leave it off (mine stays off unlike what everyone says). Anybody eles get a loud droneing noise? It's not the tires. The have a separate sound.

^ Audio pilot and ANC are two different things. Turning the ANC off requires pushing 1, 6, & power simultaneously IIRC. That will not stay off.
