Disable the auto-retract rear shade when in reverse

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the auto-retract for the rear shade when you put the car in reverse. I generally leave the rear shade up to reduce direct sun into the car.

Asked a Service Manager the same thing this spring and they said no. Something about a safety measure and DOT junk. I asked him why we could tint the windows to make them dark and they couldn't be retracted.... No reply. At one point I was going to put up the shade up and then remove the fuse or or disconnect the wiring connector so nothing could lower them, but now it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured it was a safety feature, but was hoping since the RL has so many overrides... figured they might have this for the driver to decide. There are times I want it down, but to disconnect and have it up all the time... I'll just have to press the button after I'm out of reverse.

I the guy that wrote the software could actually drive, he would allow for the screen to go back up after you come out of reverse.

Why should you have to? If the car is smart enough to put it down when you shift into reverse, it should be an easy enough to recognize that it was previously up and put it back up when you shift into drive. I'm with db22 on this one. Somebody just wasn't thinking when they coded this.

No, ever think that when you are parking you will go into reverse, then drive, then reverse then drive again (this is when you parallel park).
The constant down/up crap would get really irritating.
I think its best when you put in in reverse, it goes down and stays down. If you want it up when the car is parked, just put it up and leave the car in park, then turn off the ignition.

OK we agree that there is a difference of opinion, then make it programmable on the MID. 2 more lines of code won't break the bank!
