Deleting Messages

I was showing off my new RL to my dad this weekend and I got out of the car to let him in to drive. The car showed a message about no keyfob in the car but I see no way to make this message go away, the only options are to listen to the message or find an Acura dealer.

Any clue how to disable this message in the future and/or how to delete the message currently stored?

TIA,
Jon

So are you saying that you intended for your dad to take the RL out for a spin alone, with you and the key fob staying at home? If so why? Couldn't you just give him the fob?

I had the fob in my pocket, when I got out of the drivers seat to let him take over after showing him all the whiz bang features, the message popped up about the fob not being in the car. I guess I left the perimiter the car wants the fob to remain in. Now I can't get the message deleted.

To delete the keyless access warning message, press the CANCEL, MAP/GUIDE and MENU buttons simultaneously. This puts you into a diagnostic menu.

Select XM/HIP
Select XM (HIP) ECU
Select Diagnostic Info
Select the message
Select delete
Select yes

Bajanjack,

Try holding the 3 buttons longer, this has worked for everyone who has tried it....let us know if this fixes it for you.

...you can even see the satellite locations if you have the guts to select other options in the diagnostic menu

Push and hold all three for a minimum of 5 seconds. Like petemc said, it has worked for everyone.

Nice...Ofcourse they are going to do exactly what you are going to do. I could see them telling you that if a message came up without warning or if a message kept coming back after deleting it or if say, blood was oozing out of your nav screen for no reason at all. But a no keyless access message? They must not want owners in the diag. screens which I can almost understand.

Pete & Earl.....thanks!!!! The "5 seconds" did the trick and I deleted the messages...I'm a happy man!.....The last thing left to deal with is the phantom locking of my doors which now happens after I got the updates.....

The locking problem can be solved by removing the exposed battery terminal for a minute. It will cause your car to basically reboot. This procedure really works.

Be warned, however, that it will require you to input your Nav and Radio codes, so have them ready before you do this.

Also when you do the Nav, be in an open area, i.e., not the garage, where the car can access the GPS satellite. You will get a screen that says it may take 10 minutes to reset the system while the system is resetting. It will reset. Once it does, your good to go.

Re-opening the thread. I get the same thing as in I can't delete old messages and the Message Screen hangs most of the time. I have no problems getting to the following:

Select XM/HIP
Select XM (HIP) ECU
Select Diagnostic Info
Select the message
Select delete
Select yes

But Yes never happens It just hangs.

Unless somebody has some input, its off to the dealer.......this is very interesting..

I have also refreshed the NAV DVD. Also, I am using the latest DVD NAV 2006 edition, White label, I guess its v4.31 or something.
