Defective shock or something else?

Hi,

So last fall I did an overhaul of my suspension; replacing struts (sachs) , and upper and lower control arms. Recently I noticed that my driver side shock is badly leaking oil and is totally toast. I've driven probably less than 5k miles since getting the work done. I'm pretty sure that I noticing the suspension feeling off after it was put on a lift and I do think that this caused it (even though Sachs denied that that is likely) , but there is one other thing I'm concerned about.

The reason I replaced the shocks to begin with was that I hit something on the highway while coming home one day. It got kicked out from the car in front of me, it looked like a chunk of metal, but it hit my driver's side wheel. Immediately my tire sidewall and my shock got blown out . I wasn't aware of any other damage, but I decided to replace the control arms just in case. The mechanic that did all the work also didn't notice anything else wrong.

Are there any other things that I should be looking at that may have gotten damaged, or is it likely I just got a dud shock? What do you guys think?

I suspect that if there was other damage from the strike, the dealer would have fallen all over themselves to point it out.

I suspect a dud shock and the dealer should replace it free.....or pick a new mechanic.
