Question Deactivation of DRL?

Does anyone know whether we can turn off, or deactivate, the daylight running lights (DRL) feature on the RL?

There is a thread on how to do this. IIRC, you have to put a resistor in line to "fool" the car into thinking they are on.

I am thinking it was someone with electrical smarts like 2007rl or soitri that could do this or has actually done it.

Actually one way to do it is to find the DRL module underneath the drivers side of the dashbooard (near the steering column) and to remove the white wire. There was a thread about it a few years back that I found while searching.

I too want to disable the DRLs, I just find them annoying.

Curious - why do you want to disable?

I'd like to turn mine off because they're not required by law in my state and they annoy me on other cars.

I thing daytime running lights are great and can't understand why all cars don't have them. I read somewhat recently that cars equipped with DRLs were in the neighborhood of 15% less likely to be involved in a multiple vehicle accident (I guess they can't keep you from running your car into a tree) and of those that were in accidents, the damage was close to 70% less (I guess the cars tended to be going slower).

I'd like to get them in my '04 MDX.

DRL's are easy to get on cars without them: flip the switch.

DRLs are different than headlights on

actually I recall DRLs are the car's high beams only running at a lower power setting (like 30%)- so you can't mimick this effect by turning lights on.

I too like them- they're also useful when entering parking structures.
