Dash kit?
Dash kit?
Anyone have the wood dash kit installed? If so, I would love to see some pictures. (I've looked through the picture gallery, and haven't seen any.)
I know it's not what most of you think of as a "cool" mod. It's not wheels, or tinting or lowering, but I think it might add to the luxury aspect of the RL.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you are talking about. Are you sure you own an RL because the dash is already wood?
Don't go any further than this. It will look bad.

Here's something kind of weird. On my 2006 the hidden power outlet is on the right side of the center console. On that car pictured it is on the left. Did they change this between model years?
Yes it's an RL, it's a 2005
The parts that I would want to use, you don't have. One piece goes around the shift pattern and the other goes around all the buttons for the radio etc...and not use the two pieces you have around the shifter and back to the center storage console.
I hope that is more clear.

No pics for that reason. It was not what I was hoping for. Noticeable difference in certain areas. Not that bad over all. Have to laugh about matching the "real" wood. Since you are giving opinions are you more partial to interior carbon trim or body matched trim? That question goes for everyone else as well.
If you are doing away with it, would you sell me just the pieces I'm interested in?
When I purchased my car, it had the WHOLE wood kit installed. I took off the part around the center stack (yes, it went around each button/knob). Kept it that way for about three days, then pealed it off. Left it like this for quite sometime, but eventually pealed it off too. Here's the pic after removing from the stack:

If it comes off easily I will. Not sure if would stick right again though
1. The question is do you think wrapping the "real" wood pieces with carbon would look better than color matching the pieces?
2. I have to laugh that you described the wood in the car as "real". In no way is it real.

2) See Carbon's response.
Why are you trolling the newbs? There are enough new owners here to spread wrong information without people doing it purposely.
I'm sorry just can't consider calling something .001(or however thin it is) real wood. Especially when it comes out as "my car has real wood in the dash!" like it is something that special. The black color is real nice but again, that much money for how much real wood? Not worth it imo.

Why does it matter again if it is a tenth of an inch or 10 inches thick? The only purpose is aesthetic. All you are going for is natural grains that cannot be reproduced by a computer. I started out saying that the variance in the natural wood causes matching issues when it comes to color. You scoffed because you thought, "In no way is it real." But in reality, it is real, and your retort is that it isn't thick enough for you to consider it real as if the thickness changes the physical composition into a completely different material?!?

Again, I will go back to my first statement. The real wood in the dash makes it hard to color match with plastic designed to look like wood.

What year is yours?
I watched an episode of Ultimate Factories where they showed the build process of the Rolls Royce Phantom. The process is the same. Wouldn't you consider that wood? I would imagine most all cars are the same. It's just too difficult to use a real piece of wood for the full piece with modern day interiors. The tolerances are much smaller and electronics greater than they were 4 decades ago.
whatever you say man. You obviously know way more than me. Thank god I do not have the time(53%) to stare at AZ, act like I know it all, and talk shit to everyone else. Great trend you got going there.
p.s. Do you even have an RL anymore?
The black "wood" isn't real. It is only an alternative to the '05-08 burl wood.

'07. Although it was registered '09. Which shows how brilliantly they sold over here.
