Corner-illuminating foglamps VS. Active Front Headlight...
We all know how AFS works now, but do you ever hear MB's Corner-illuminating foglamps?
The system monitors the angle of the steering wheel and turn-signal use, as well as illuminates either foglamp to provide better lighting to the side. MB says the purpose to have this system is to help you see better in turns or when entering dark driveways or alleys at speeds of up to 25 MPH.
This is totally different system to AFS on 05RL. If you ever think the car makers should come out something better than AFS, do you think this system fits perfectly to your expectation?

Hmm...at speeds of up to 25mph, but what about at higher speeds? It might work well if it was in combination with the AFS. And what happens if the driver is one of those people who drives around with foglights on all the time? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

These are pics I got from their brochure, it will clearly explain what it is.
After carefully reviewing my 05SLK brochure, MB doesn't say anything about AFS-like headlight system. Maybe I'm wrong here. Since MB used to be the leader in the field of safety-like technology and always continue to enhance their cars and systems steps earlier than other car makers, I don't know why MB stands alone with this system instead of the combination of two systems.

AFS seems more practical and creative..
I had a 1997 Nissan Altima that had cornering lights that illuminated in that fashion when that particular side's turn signal was turned on. Of course, it isn't the same thing, but close enough... would expect more from Mercedes.

they would hope people are not taking turns at 50 MPH
