Cool "finds" and features of the RL (Did you know.... )

I'm not sure if this adds anything but I have 08 RL and I just use the ignition "knob" the key is in the FOB.
When my trunk experience happened the car was running (the hotel only had valet parking) and my FOB was inside the car with the car running, my wifes FOB is the #2.
I would have thought that with the car running the trunk would have closed. I have tested it without the car running. I probably should have mentioned that my original post.

Do you think if this thread goes on long enough everything will be covered twice?

Something funny I noticed today, when taking off, the red RPM needle gets brighter the higher the car revs. It's very subtle, and I'm almost wonder if that's the alternator on it's way out. Can anyone else confirm that? It's literally just the red needle, not the surrounding gauge or needles.

Thanks for this thread. Very, very informative!! Because of this thread, I went looking for a few things. Here is what I found.
I hated having to pull the 12v adapter out in order to close the door for it. (I like the clean look of having it closed when not in use.) I found this Aukey charger that solves this issue.
Aukey 12v charger sits flush, allowing you to open and close door without having to remove it.
Door closed with charger still plugged in.
Also, I found the hidden plug in the bottom of the upper arm rest. I was 100% unable to see it from the top-inside of the arm rest. You have to lift up the top of the armrest and push the plug up and out.
Push up and out. Spent like 5 min. trying to pull it out.
you can see plug now but I couldn't see it at when I was looking for it before I pushed it out.
Now you can run a usb charging cable from the charger in armrest.
I like using this cable and keeping the gear shift charger door closed until needed.
Hope this helps. Also, I would have never known about the auto-cranking start or the self closing doors if it was not for this thread. Thanks again Acurazine.
