Climate Control System...can't figure out

Hey all,

I've looked through the manual and played with the climate control system but can't figure this out.

It seems like the position of the airflow is always set to flowing under the floor vents even though I set it flowing through the dash. A day or so later it will reset back to under the floor and not the dash. It's a little annoying having to change the setting each time.

How can I permanently change the setting to have it flow through the dash.

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the heater? Mine does that too with heat in "Auto" mode. Cold is fine. I look forward to an answer.

and how about fresh air? I can never seem to figure out how to have the system blow fresh air from outside through the dash without turning on the A/C. Any help appreciated!!

Simple. Turn system off and hit the re-circulation button. I do 90% of my a/c control through the voice activation, much simpler

^ That wouldnt blow fresh air though. It will only recirculate cabin air. To blow outside air, press the "A/C" button, turn A/C off, and turn fan up.

There will always be some fresh air coming into the car. Federal regulation to avoid the possible buildup of carbon monoxide. As for the air coming in the floor, I believe if the car "thinks" it's warming the interior (set to auto), it will always send some air through the floor vents.

^^^Correct. Also I have no problem with getting fresh or re-circulated air with either the AC ON or OFF with HEAT or COLD air. Anytime you hit auto the car will deem whatever is necessary pertaning to re-circulation or fresh air. It will also choose the floor and defrosters almost 99% of the time. After hitting AUTO on, you can adjust whether to re-circulate/fresh air and the vents from which you want air.

It doesn't make sense though that if you put it on "Hi" it will only blast your feet. When it's 30 degrees outside, I have socks, boots and jeans on. I don't wear gloves or ski masks, so my face and hands are the things that are cold. Yet, the car won't give me that air, just my feet. I hope their is a way to change default.

Aside from complaining about how the wind blows up your skirts.. isnt OPs issue is having to change the settings?

Shouldn't it stay the way it is as long as the keys are synched?

I think it should, but it doesn't by default.

It shouldn't change unless OP changes it.

We aren't on the same page. The car has a default setting that it reverts back to every time you hit the "auto" button. You should be able to change this setting, but apparently no one here knows how.

if you use the A/C button to make your nav screen the AC info screen.. there are clea rways to shut OFF the A/C but increase teh fan speed..whcih woudl then blow in fresh air..

i know i've done it before and that's how I recall doing it.

when I want fresh air, and don't want the AC i just crack open my sunroof...

waht are the easy voice commands to do this?

I just read the manual, and Auto is what it is. Now way to change it. It does say that it will remain in the last setting used for each driver.

What is interesting is the way they tell you to turn on the heater. It says to select the desired fan speed, select the floorboard vent, and then select the temperature. I know you don't have to select the floorboard vent, but it kind of explains why hot air only blows on your feet in "Auto" mode. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I can't wait to upgrade to the '09 system an have "mode" as an option.

A neat little did-ya-know is that when the dash & floorboard vents are selected, you can adjust the passenger and driver dash temps while keeping both floor vents the same temp.
