Climate control bulbs not locking

Thanks to the DIY I got to the bulbs pretty quickly. As previously noted, the only hard part was getting the bottom bolts (definitely 8mm) out in the slot provided behind the not an ashtray.

Trouble now is I am using the OEM replacements, pn 80629-s604-003, and I can't get them to turn enough to actually lock in place. The old bulbs were securely locked and the line on the back of the gray sleeve was in line with the "lock" on the board. I did remove the yellow cover from each bulb (missed this at first and wondered why the replacements were a different color!), but no matter how hard I turn each bulb I can't get them to lock in place. Last thing I want is for one of these to loosen and not light up!!!

Any hints here much appreciated!!

I remember when I did mine that they were really hard to turn to the lock position with bare hands. I used needle nosed pliers gripping onto the base (socket part) and turning with the pliers. That was much easier cause of the extra leverage the pliers give you.

thanks Megatron

I'll try that tomorrow when i return to the project !! i could barely get a very small flat screwdiver in the slot of the base, so your idea of using a long nose plier sounds good.

I just did mine last week (and I left the yellow on the bulbs).
Be very careful with the plier method as the plastic is brittle. I broke one with the needle nose pliers.
Pushing down with some force made them easier to turn. I used a very small and wide screwdriver socket.

all complete!

finally got those little bulbs to lock in using a jewelers screwdriver kit. everything went back real quick-- decided to leave those two 8mm bolts from the bottom out for now. i will see if it affects anything or makes any noise. why bother if not needed-- this way when replacing other bulbs I won't have to deal with them again!

the only other advice I can add, is when disconnecting the seat warmer plug, it's the bottom piece that slides out from the connector, not the middle piece. This kept me thinking for a while, trying to determine where to break the plug from the switch!
