Clicking when Moving from a Stop

Hey guys, I just got an 06 RL w/ 60K miles from a dealer. The previous owner put 19" rims, and I believe A-spec suspension or just springs? It's not really low, but it doesn't have the stock wheel gap w/ 19s). Anyways when I start to accelerate from a stop I get a click noise, almost like a CV click, but it's only one click. If I accelerate slowly, it'll happen a little later.

I talked to my cousin who's a mechanic & he said it might be a inner CV, or maybe something on the suspension is loose. I had the dealer I bought it from look at it and they said it's probably the upgraded suspension.

It sounds like a CV, especially if the previous owner was hard on the car. Does anyone have any experience/ideas about this?

Thanks for your help!

Have you considered it might be a CV?

Sorry. I had to.

Are we sure it's not the solenoid in the shifter area that locks and unlocks the shift lever depending on speed?

Good idea, but it's a louder clunck vs. a click. I'm pretty sure I can feel it in the wheel/pedal, but I've got to check again now that I'm writing this.

Would this be on the shifter? I can hear it from outside and I can feel the clunk from every stop, not just when I put it in gear.

Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate the feedback. Just making sure I don't have a major problem & if you guys have heard of a similar issue.

I'll be taking it to my cousin who's a mechanic to check it out soon.

I love this car, I'm so happy to be back in an RL! A few months/6K miles in a 96 4-runner base model will do that.

Joe,
Yeah that solenoid is on the shift lever inside the cabin - I doubt very much it'd be something you'd hear out side the vehicle, but if you keep your hand on the shifter when you drive like I do, you definitely feel in on the shift lever when you stop and when you go again when it engages to prevent you from shifting into reverse. If you're hearing it outside the car though, I'm guessing this isn't what you're experiencing...

Ypu would not hear the shifter solenoid outside of the car, or feel it in the steering wheel or throttle pedal. That is likely something in thesuspension, driveline and / or interfaces.

I do, however feel the solenoid click on my shifter even if barely noticeable. At first I thought I had a loose screw in the dash or console that slid everytime I launched from a stop. Then I felt it on the shifter and realized it was the solenoid.
