Does anyone know the changes that were made to the RL in 06 and 07?

 

Primarily packaging.

06 RL came in 2 trim levels. BASE (everything as is 05 RL) and a TECH (which added a package of ACC/CMBS/PAX).

07 RL came in 3 trim levels. A new BASE (Deleted NAVI, AFS, real wood trim), TECH (same as the 06 BASE that had NAVI, AFS and real wood trim) and a TECH + ACC/CMBS/PAX

The naming conventions were determined by one of the Acura lunatics, likely now a design studio genius.

There may have been some color changes too, Meteor Silver was dropped and silver color name changes. ONSTAR was standard on 2005 & 2006 but dropped on 2007+ models. Also in 2007 & 2008 there was a mysterious number of RLs without a shark fin, that returned in 2009+ on all models.

Otherwise no one would really know the difference between models.

They may be right on this (I don't know, haven't looked at their RL page) but Wiki is not the best source to just go to all the time.

I'd recommend posting questions here where multiple people with vested interest can answer.

 

I would have to agree with you on Wiki, but in this case, FWIW, I have done much (though not all) of the work on the RL Wikipedia page, the SH-AWD page and the Michelin PAX page, and try to keep the topics fairly accurate and up to date. I know I am not the end all font of knowledge, but it has been an entertaining activity.

I had a whole section on mods and measurements for various mods that was stricken by the editors as out of scope. I was looking for a place to pull together all the knowledge on this forum. Thought Wiki would be a good place.

Acuranews.com has a wealth of info in it as well for individual model years.

 

07 added rear back up camera as standard with nav

 

I have a 2007 without the Shark Fin. I wondered what was up with that. At first I thought it was a 2007 thing, until I saw other 2007's with the fin. Nice info.
