brakes squeeking

Hey all

Seems like my back brakes are squeeking and wondering if i should replace both the rotors and brake pads. If you have any insight on this and any recommendations on good value brake pads and rotors that would be awesome. Thanks.

There is a TSB for this if it applies to your RL and warranty situation,,,,

how many miles are on your car. Brake squeaking is not necessarily due to rotors, more likely your pads are worn and/or your shims no longer have anti squeal grease on them. Pads are about $70 for the rear. Akebono proact ceramics have worked well for me.

Your rotors are worn if you can feel a lip on the outside edge of the face. if there is no lip, you are in good shape.

if you want better braking, look into Satisfied GranSport 6 on TireRack. They cost about the same as OEM but are a huge improvement.

I am using them with StopTech rotors, slotted.

I wouldn't waste my money on pads which are same or lower quality than stock, that's just wrong.

I've had a Toyota around in one form on the other now for about 20 years. One thing I learned is buy the pads from Toyota. Aftermarket stuff (unless it's the Good Stuff) is usually crap.
