Yet again, the Acura nearly steals the show.
Why are people not buying?! ACURA: ADVERTISE THIS THING! You guys have the goods! Let everyone know it!
It's a shame, because the word is not getting out. This new RL should be flying out of the dealers! But it's not--because of a poor marketing and advertising team. So I guess this time it won't be the engineers/designers of the RL getting fired...

Yup, I saw this article. I thought it was posted here before, but I can't find it. At any rate, it is good to know people like the RL. As spudmtn said, advertising will help Acura. Although, over the last few days I have seen a the Acura commercial with the entire lineup of cars on a trailer with christmas music in the background. This is a start to brand recognition.

There is a study that states that television advertising is not that effective in convincing people to acquire a car, but I can't find it right now. Print ads seem to be more effective, and I have seen a little more RL print ads, including one inside the front cover of Sound & Vision's January 2006 issue. Also, there is an EXCELLENT ad in the December 26, 2005 issue of Fortune magazine that explains SH-AWD. Hopefully, these print ads will lead to increased sales.

Really? I bought my Acura EL because of the commerical :|
But also, many people are after rear-wheel drive cars, and for some WEIRD reason, they do not believe that Acura is at the same level as Infiniti, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes...which is entirely bogus, because the only Acura doesn't have is the higher end premium luxury car, yet they have a lower model that the others don't. It's really dumb actually.
We just bought an RL and it's amazing. RL A-Spec.

It might be hard for the Acura brand to carry the same cache as some other when Acura is selling RSX's for less than the cost of a Honda Accord.
Regarding drive configuration: just like most people in this country don't know what a web browser is, even when they use one, most people don't know what FWD is, even when they're driving one. And since the uninformed don't know what a browser is, they don't know there is an alternative to Internet Explorer, and since they don't know what FWD is, they don't know there are alternatives. That's part of the reason why the FWD Acura TL and Lexus ES sell so well: because people don't usually know or car about FWD vs. RWD.

Kinda funny about the advertising thing because I see more advertising of the RL than any luxury car save for the intiial ad campagin of new the Lexus IS.
Acura did drop the ball with advertising this car last year but in the alst few months they IMO have the lead in this area...at elast where I am they do

Car and Driver article
Motor Trend, huh? OK...assuming most RL owners can read above the 3rd grade level, let's try for Automobile or Car and Driver instead:

Still lost to the Infiniti though. Personally I found that vehicle's interior rather chintzy and overall lacking the engineering design and execution of the RL.
