Battery shot?

Battery window was showing white the other day. Drove 300+ miles today and still white. Is battery shot? My RL was built in April of 2006 and I have almost 20,000 miles on the odometer. Will the dealer give me the runaround about replacing under warranty?

Show them the battery warranty in your owner's materials. It should definitely be covered.

Battery Replaced

I had my 06 RL into the dealer for an oil change, power steering fix and some other maintenance last month at 25,000 miles. I was surprised that they replaced the battery (under warranty). It failed a battery check test that was done as part of my service.

I don't think there is a big problem but 2 years and 25,000 miles? It's a daily driver with a minimum of 30 minute commute (mostly highway) twice a day.

When I took mine in the last couplle of times, the SM was surprised with the readings they got back from the test.

I think the mfr spec states CCA to be ~ 640, and my battery has been consistently registering ~750.

'06 w/30K miles.

Just because your RL was built in April of '06 doesn't mean the battery was. Still, it should last a bit longer. Warranty replacement time.

For those that have their batteries replaced due to weakness, have you ever experieced the steering wheel not coming down (or only half way) after you turn on the ignition?

Called at 9 am this morning. Service writer said I could come in Tuesday PM, as they were full until then. How long does it take to check and replace a battery? If they gave me the battery I could have it in in 15 minutes, or less. She asked if the car could be started. I said yes. She said it should be OK until Tuesday. How does she know? I am not a happy camper.

I got to the dealership 10 minutes early for my 1 PM appointment. Told the service writer the battery is not charging as indicated by the "eye" and have driven over 350 miles since I first noticed it a week ago. She comes back 30 minutes later saying battery is fine and producing 660 CCA instead of OEM of 550. I asked if the eye was now blue. She said she couldn't check as the car was on the lift. What? I was so po'd I didn't asked what the car was doing on the lift. I told her I was not leaving unless the eye was blue, or with a new battery. To make a long story short after waiting a total of 90 minutes I was heading home with a new Acura 100 Month Limited Warranty battery, but with no eye. I guess they showed me.
