battery CCA check - real low
Hey Folks,
Took advantage of an oil change special, multi point inspection and car wash at my local acura dealer for $24.95. Afterwards they mentioned the battery was tested at only 475 CCA and I should replace it soon (versus the 675 rating on this NAPA battery. I guess this is my early warning to do so? It's a NAPA so it's probably 2nd battery on an 08 RL. They wanted $185 installed but declined since I can just grab one at the parts counter for 1/2 price.
I guess I should change it now even though it cranks fine?

if you have the money why not.. you might want to check with NAPA maybe you can warranty it (even pro-rated). It can be seen as preventative but it can also be read as "if it aint broke.."

If you are receiving any 'System Checks' messages or the telescopic does not activate when start up, these are the normal RL signs indicating battery replacement, although, the car is starting fine and your battery measures good.
If your battery is 3-4 years old you have got your money's worth, then I would replace with the highest quality battery you may afford.

I really appreciate the quick responses. I contacted the local NAPA store but they are no help without a receipt. Not sure when that battery was replaced but going by the looks of it I wouldn't doubt it's 3+ years old. If I replace it either I go with a OEM from Acura for $92 or Sears Diehard but those range from $133 to $189 for the Gold and some AGM top model. Might get the factory one and be set for a few years....I hope.

I wouldn't use the Acura batteries, they don't seem to have great cranking power. I'd go with the highest cca battery you can find that fits. Someone said advance auto has an agm battery with substantially more CCAs than Acura at like $185. It will be my next battery.

What needs to be done can depend on how low the battery was and how long the cables are disconnected during the swap. I only needed the codes.
