B12 service cost

oil change, 2 air filters, tire rotation and general inspection dealer quote about $350.
What have others paid, and where else can I have this done?

I do the rotation myself...10 minutes with a decent floor jack.

Oil change $31 at the local acura dealer.

Dunno about the filters, but I would guess buy and install yourself in minutes.

General inspection PFFFFFT!

Last time I did a B12 it was <$100, if I remember right. B16 was $131

The dealer I go to has an general inspection included witht he $31 oil change.

Personally, I'd do everything myself. The oil change, air filter changes will take about 30 minutes total. The tire rotation will take about 45 minutes. So you're talking about 1.5 hours at the most. The general inspection is most likely going to take 15 minutes, if they do it at all.

So, no more than 2 hours total from start to finish, including setup and cleanup...

At out dealer, a B12 on an RL would cost around 260 dollars. That would include your oil change, inspections, a rotate and balance of the tires, and replacing the air/dust & pollen filters.

As far as your inspections go, it's not just a quick easy 100 dollars for the dealer. Some tech's actually take pride in finding items that may be wrong with the vehicle. It IS how they get paid, so it would obviously be in there best interest to find things, whether it be warranty or customer pay.

My B16 service light came on this week. I have 11K on the car. I got 2 quotes; $310 and $283. Both seemed very high for a B16 service? Anyone else get any better quotes for the Northern Va area?

I think that is on par with what I was quoted from Radley and Pohanka, maybe a few bucks more. I went with the cheaper quote at Pohanka, which surprised me because Radley used to give better prices.

I was surprised with the higher price with Radley. That's where I bought my 06 RL and they throw in free oil changes for life, but I'm wondering if it's a way to draw you back in for service.

Well after reading some post about the "B" service inspections and most think it's a waste of time, I'm opting to just get the differential fluid changed for the SH-AWD, tire rotation, and oil change. Radley said they will just charge me for the differential fluid change ($140) and the rest they will not charge me, plus provide me with a loan car for the day. I'm also going to have them do the power steering recall. I wonder if that voids any of the warranty?

No, it doesn't void the warranty...I haven't had a "mileage" service done on any of my 6 Acuras over the years, and never will. They are overpriced inspections.

Agreed. Not doing inspections will not void the warranty. Not doing the fluid/plug changes will.....

I asked the local Acura dealer service dept. re: rear diff and trans fluid change, $100 each!.. When I get the RL, I'm doing those services on my own.

I have 4 homemade ramps, made with 2x12's and 2x10s stacked/bolted together which give me a 6 inch lift. If need be, I'll add 1 or 2 more layers of 2x12 or 10 to give me another 1.5" to 3" of lift..
