Anyone heard any good or bad?
My bro is in the market for a new car, and I am pushing for the Acura RL, but as driving by many car dealers, he decided to stop at the Volvo for some reason. I kept telling him they dont really have anything good, but we went inside the showroom anyways. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about the S60R? The car was VERY fast, and seemed pretty nice overall. And since his wife's father works for Ford, he would get an A plan discount on it. The car does 0-60 in the mid 5sec range. It looks like the vehicle would be about 8k less out the door. Just wondering if anyone had any news on them, neither of us have ever owned a volvo, all I have heard about them is that they are very good in saftey but thats about it. Anyone know about reliabilty issues and such? Thanks for the help in advance.

Looked at the 60 and 70R models a few years ago
Fast and good handling, but I only drove the V70R. As I recall the issues for the 60R were problems with the automatic transmission, low ground clearance, large turning radius and resale value. Check out "www.swedespeed.com" and some other Volvo sites for more info.

Yea I've heard about the auto transmission, they claim they have fixed it, but most likely he will be getting a manual anyways. Thats what I was worried about, the low ground clearance, esp if he gets the sports package body kit and has to drive in teh snow. Resale value, he usually keeps his cars for quite a while, so that shouldn't be too big of an issue, didn't hear much about the turning radius, but we both are going to go back again for a 2nd test drive. Thanks for all the help thus far. If anyone else knows of anything, please do let me know. Thanks

I bought one of the first 400 S60's sold in the country. Mine's a T5. I don't know how the newer R60's are doing, but I still really like the T5. I've got about 75k on it now and it's been a strong performer. The turning radius issue is true. All said, it's a good car, a bit more performance oriented than the RL. But I have to admit, I really prefer my RL now. It's much more refined and comfortable to drive. The only thing I miss about driving the S60 regularly is that it had more front leg room for my 6'3" frame.

Volvo
I am not so sure about the volvo choice but I do know about my Acura RL. This is very unusual vehicle. If you have one that works, good, and even better if you have a dealer who is willing to fix it but you can't be sure of either of those with acura. (I did not purchase it at Montclair acura.) In either case (especially acura) look very carefully at the dealership and not the car. If volvo is less expensive that is an advantage not to be taken lightly. If you go with Acura and find youself at odds with the dealership you are out of luck.
