Another 'noise' issue
Another 'noise' issue
Has anyone else noticed a sound coming from the A-Pillar area that sounds like 'static'? It only comes on at about 40-50mph and goes away above or below that. That's the best way I can discribe it... it sounds like static coming from a speaker... but when I listen at the speaker directly it's not coming from there... just that vicinity... it's very hard to localize...and it's there even when the stereo is off.
I thought maybe it was the 'Active Noise Canceling' system... but I also turned it off under the the audio menu... and it's still there.
So I figured maybe it was wind noise and that it just sounds like static... I tried folding in the mirror...etc.. but still there.
Granted it's very slight, but now that I know it's there, it tends to drive me a little nuts.
Check it out when you drive.. and see if any of you can pick up a similar noise. If so let me know.

You can't actually turn off the ANC system from the audio controls -- what you turned off is the speed and noise sensitive equalization. There's no way to turn the ANC off without pulling the fuse.
Which, assuming you can still use the car after the audio system fuse has been pulled, I'd probably do. Yank the fuse, take it for a ride, and see if the noise goes away.
EDIT: Or just take it into your dealer, and make sure the tech and/or the service manager takes a road trip WITH YOU in the car to document the noise.
