So I swapped my stock 2005 steering wheel out for an A-spec wheel. Decided I didn't like the wood grain so I had it all color matched to body color. The painter had the a-spec wheel off while painting it. He also had my car. He claims he moved the car in and out twice with no air bag plugged in. Now no matter what I try I can't shut it off. Any suggestions? I was told possibly the cable reel but it doesen't seem likely. Reset the air bag code? Anyway I can do it myself?

ASpec steering wheel? I suppose you mean the wood grain one, but that doesn't matter. I can think of two possible fixes. 1) Find the fuse to the steering wheel and pull it for a min or so, or 2) Disconnect the battery for 15 min or so.
You will surely lose some or all settings either way, but 1) probably has the least amount of reconfiguring involved. You may have to reset the steering column telescope function. I have never tried either, and I cant garuantee either will fix your issue. I can garuantee disconnecting your battery will reset your car settings. However, disconnecting power usually will allow the sensors to reset within the system.
