Have you checked the fluid levels in your rear diff? What are the codes you are getting?
What do you mean the dealer did not take care of the problem. Did you pay the diagnostic fee? What did they tell you was wrong?

First thing, 08 and 09 rl are different awd system, but similar issue would be the steering angle sensor being out of center. Best thing to-do is read the codes and it could help. Unfortunately it might not be a matter of just replacing a part and clearing the code.

So far, I have pulled the rear wheel sensors and blown off the junk that had accumulated on those and reinserted. The issue is intermittent currently. It seems to be triggered by hard road bumps or turning and hitting a hard bump.
I'll take any ideas or suggestions prior to being forced to take it in.

The code is stored in a body control module for afs. I had a code for afs, vsa, and awd.... Was brake switch, code would fault it stop and go. There are suspension angle sensors for the system as well.... Get the code, gets the answer.

Mechanics are similar, but the biggest being the implementation of the sh-awd is in the software. The imu(s) accsessed during the drive are typicly "better tuned". The biggest change is at which the awd system now takes over first gear on the 09+ sh-awd, where as the 05-08 did not. The applied engine power to the wheels are less agressive in the rear to help improve mpg from driveline loss when adding more power to the rear (eh) thus giving it closer to a fwd car when cruising. There is less latency in the responce of the system, but by the data no human would detect. The coolest thing is when you look at an older units data, compared to the later is just how fast the data is being calulated over time, where as the older one would lean heavily on other sensors for the correction of the wheels.

a few years ago i had a similar issue with vsa and sh-awd lighting up after starting my car.
only found out it was my faulty brake sensor . brake lights would light up sometimes.
but i remember when i turned on my car no vsa and sh-awd would light up until i step on my brakes
10$ part to replace the sensor switch under the brake pedal. worth a shot.

Thank you for the idea. I haven't found any one who has a scanner that can pull the codes mentioned above and my add to sell my kidney in mexico pay for my own has yet to yield the money I need. I will order that switch today. I've replaced a couple of those for others on hondas and acuras. So for $10 it's worth a try.
