Acura leather ?
Acura leather ?
I have an 05 RL with 35000 Miles at about 27,000 miles the dealer offered to give me a free detail since the tech got grease on the light colored interior of my car during service, so I said ok when I got the car back there was a bad wear mark in my driver seat left bolster (seat back) just about where I rub against the seat upon entry and exit of the car. I took it back and they said they would fix it, they kept the car for about 5 days and had a guy paint the leather.
It wore off in about 2-3 months.
Took the car back on my next service visit and they said they would have the interior guy come and look at it. He came in and said his work only has a 6 mo. warranty so tough luck.
Has anyone had a problem with Acura leather I have Parchment (light colored leather) thought the leather should hold up more than 2-3 years I use leather conditioner and treat the leather carefully and don't abuse it.
Thanks
Gordon

I have parchment leather in my '06 (30,000 miles) and other than being a bit dirty, it looks just fine. My guess is they scrubbed the spot with the grease and took whatever finish was on the leather off and abraded the leather. The dealer should stand behind the work even if the "detailer" doesn't.

Several RL's I have looked at had issues with the leather. Does not seem to hold up as well as a few of my other cars. Hope mine is a better example. Perhaps a nice set of cow spotted seat covers will do the trick.

I had the "exact" same problem with my 05 Opulent Blue Pearl RL. Took it to my dealer, they deemed it premature wear and replaced the entire seat back area with new leather...No charge!

I'm not having that kind of luck,
all my dealer wants to do is have their interior guy paint the seat, thy painted the seat bolster a second tIme but I know it will wear off again. Wonder if I would get anywhere with Acura.
Thanks for the reply,
Gordon

Based on what you say, the dealer owes you more than a cosmetic fix which will not last.
If this was wear related, they could simply make a warranty replacement and bill Acura. But THEY damaged your seat leather, and likley they cannot claim a warranty replacement. But you are owed a new seat cover and THEY (the dealer) should pay for it.
I think a call to Acura CS and tactfully explain the situation will likley get the situation resolved, if not a smack on the dealer's performance record. But perhaps you would consider another dealer after this episode?
If the dealer could make a warranty replacement, they likely would. But sounds to me like they cannot and are being cheap about making good on damage they caused your RL.
They are not doing you a favor, they need to make good on the damage they caused, and the fix they already tried is obviously not sufficient.
