A12 Service Due

Hey guys, I have not been able to get a straight answer on what all is needed to be done on a A12 service. I have searched here and I mostly get A12 service info for TL's, and its rather conflicting. I have also tried looking through the PDF Owners Manual but this computer will not open them. I just dont want to get screwed by the stealership when I take it in next week. I also wanted to know if any fellow RL owners have had any problems with the front suspension. I keep hearing some clanging noises in the front right side, it sounds like metal pieces are loose when driving at low speeds and you hit small bumps or uneven roads. I also here lots of road noise on the freeway, it sounds like it may be a bearing or something. Any info or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A12 is Engine Oil change, replace air cleaner element, replace pollen filter, check drive belt and rotate tires. Pages 357 and 358 of the '06 Owner's manual.

No suspension problems here.

the noise could be coming from a broken brake spring or bent shim on the pad...I had these issues under warranty

Could be the brake squeal. Did the car have TSB 05-021 performed?

Save yourself $30 - $50 off the service visit and change the cabin air filer yourself. Maybe even the engine air filter.

Always ask the charges when you make your appointment. Then ask what the charge is without the cabin or air filter.

You may also have a loose heat shield causing the rattle.

Thanks all, I will be sure to bring up the TSB mentioned, and the heat shield when I take her in to the dealer.

Drive belt is a serpentine belt which is what you see on the outside. The timing belt is internal and involves a lot more work and expertise.

Drive belts aren't difficult to do yourself, timing belt I don't think I'd ever attempt.

I have the same noise in my 2005 RL. After years of the dealer not being able to diagnose the problem, finally I got a call that my motor mounts were shot, but ironically, wasn't considered a safety issue warranting immediate care. The repair was pretty expensive, so I opted to live with the noise.

Just had the A12 done at the dealer for $219. I also had them tighten up the parking brake cable to eliminate a "clinking" noise.
