Bought the demo car from a local Acura dealer. I think I did a B-grade job on the selling price, but they more than made up for it by giving me a very good amount for my trade-in.

Bought the demo '05 RL in a GTA Acura dealership. Impulse purchase after a test drive with the wife. The discount was attractive and I was looking for a 40th b'day splash (better to get a new car than have an affair, eh )

VIN in the low 100's.

We already had a '04 TSX and my wife's family have a couple of Acura's so it was an easy sell.

So far, it was been a joy to drive.

On the nit-pick side, I do believe that Acura's (and the RL in particular) are somewhat disadvantaged when compared against Lexus, Infinity and the Europeans. The positive part of this is that you end up driving a unique vehicle compared to the others.

Backstory: The car is used - 9000 miles. But it's in perfect condition, and fully certified, so it's considered new as for warranty, etc. So, I figure that's $8000 I saved in depreciation. I traded in a 2004 V6 Touareg, fully loaded, with 24,000 miles. I loved the Touareg - excellent design - but had lost confidence in the long term reliability of the truck and VW's ability to keep it running. Too many issues - major tranny work, monthly engine reflashes, tires that were replaced at 19,000 miles, dead horn, wipers that refused to wipe - well, I could go on. Plus, I'd had a SUV for 15+ years (mostly Fords) and decided I wanted a real car!

I've had the RL for a week, and I still get goosebumps when I approach it. I'm a gadget freak, and love the UI, but the bottom line is the way this car handles - SWEET. I'm confident every time I get behind the wheel - something I could not say for the 'Egg.

I'm one happy chappy
