2012 RL pricing

I received an offer to terminate my TL lease 10 months early if I purchase another Acura.
I'm skeptical since it's 10 months early but, started toying with the idea of a RL with tech pkg.
Any idea of an acceptable price point? $49K seems to be a good starting point with MSRP of $53K and change.
Yes, I realize the all new RLX is set to debut late 2013, maybe

The RLX will debut Spring '13 FYI. The problem you will find with getting a 2012 RL price down significantly is that there is no supply. Does your dealer even have one to sell?

There are 10 Dealers within 50 miles of me. I recently checked inventory and only 4 of the Dealers had exactly 1 RL available.

Sounded like from the RLX thread that the Spring 2013 RLX was in doubt, but rather it will be a 2014 model later in 2013. Did I read that wrong?

You wont have much data to benchmark a good deal for a 2012 MY.

Of the 30-40 buyers / month, very few are likely to be posting their 'deals' here or anywhere. As mentioned, supply is very limited, which will impact pricing. Of course your geographic market also has a factor.

I would think your best deal will be finding one already on a dealer lot & good luck with that. Asking a dealer to find you one, especially color / package specific lessens your negotiating leverage.

My suggestion is to simply determine what you are comfortable paying, and if you get it, enjoy the ride.

The likelihood you will get comparable purchasing data on a 2012 RL is very remote.

Yes, after doing an online search, it appears supply is short in the NE.

Interestingly, there are several very low mileage 2012s for $40-42K.

Beautiful product but, no longer competitive for the MSRP, or close to that.

I would venture to say that the majority of RLs being bought new are fleet/corporate cars, so even if you could get the prices paid, they may not be comparable to a customer sale.

I believe so.

Great.

So will there be a 2013 RL since Acura is now officially saying that the RLX will be a 2014 model released in early 2013? Probably not.

It's the same article and a confusing response. The RLX will come out in early '13.

I think the possibilty of a 2013 MY RL will depend on inventory. The cars are already built out. If they have inventory left, or are reserving inventory for 2013 they may maintain MY continuity. I think they are still trying to determine when they can introduce the RL(X) as a 2014 MY. If that is early in 2013, then they need even fewer 2013 RLs to maintain the gap.

At 30 units a month, they may only need 200 (probably much less) units to be called the 2013 MY and overlap sales of 2013 RLs with 2014 RL(X) in the 2013 calendar year.

OY...this hurts my head.
