2010 RL-Tech?
2010 RL-Tech?
Hi all. I'm new to the RL forum here at A-zine (usually on the RDX forum). My mom is thinking about getting a 2010 RL-Tech (MSRP $51,260 incl. D&H). If anyone could share their sales experience on now negotiable the 2010 prices are (for purchase, not a lease), I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
I bought my '09 in June and paid $43,700. I did all my negotiating over the phone and email. I was willing to travel to get my car, so I was talking to many dealers from MD to MO. I think you should do this well or better on the car. I believe Acura is running $3000 marketing support right now, so that puts dealer cost down below $42K. Check out www.truecar.com, that is extremely helpful in my searches and gives you good idea as to what others are paying. Hold firm on your stance. They barely sell 130 cars a month. So though rare, they don't sell and any dealer you approach will want to unload it more than likely. I suggest working multiple dealers. I bought mine 200 miles from where I live and service it locally without issue. You have some options out there in B-more. I dealt a bit with Norris Acura West (Alex and Thomas) and Pohanka (Omar). I suggest shopping them as they were fighting for the business. Good luck!
Thanks for the great info, which I'll look into after this post. I have a good relationship with my local sales guy -- seems to get to rock bottom price right off the bat when I ask. E-mailed him yesterday and was quoted $44,750 -- but that's for a 2-car purchase (if I were to get an RDX at the same time, also discounted but not nearly as much), and because I'm a returning customer. Sounds good to me, since I saw that another dealer in my state had a new '09 RL-Tech on sale for $43,700 about a month ago. $1000 more for a '10 when it's not even 2010 yet seems decent. What do you think? In the meantime I'll be checking out the info you all gave. Thanks again!
Agreed, but I'd bet if you told him to match the '09 price for $1,000 less, they'd do it. Or if not that, get a bunch of add-ons thrown in (mats, trunk mat, trunk net, wheel locks, mud flaps, spoileer, etc.). Cars still aren't selling well especially since cash for clunkeres ended (which according to my dealer did nothing to help Acura sales since the typical Acura customer doesn't have a clunker to trade in).

I checked truecar.com per BigKat's suggestion, and I think you're right. However, it looks like an RL is out of the picture for my mom, even with the big discount. She said that when she ran it past her hubby, his eyes bugged out of his head and he started foaming at the mouth. Oh well, looks like she's getting another Camry (yawn). Thanks for all your help anyway!
