2007 RL struts
Hi everyone
so I'm trying to get a little help, I need to change my front struts and I've found the original parts from acura and they are kinda expensive
i looked it up the same part no that Acura has for struts at honda oem's and they have the same part no at a much lower price
my question is do the part no's fit both acura and Honda, so if I'll buy the part no that I need from Honda would it fit my 07 acura
thank you

No but KYB is a good aftermarket replacement shock for the KB1. The OEM shocks are hideously expensive and also have a design flaw. There's a plastic component in the OE shocks that breaks and makes the shock lock up. Experienced it on both front shocks which are now KYB. Good luck---

The problem started with a weird noise on the right side,I feel like it's not always there it's more like a clunky noise
i went to the mechanic and he checked the whole thing and he said that it might be the strut mount broken and that could make the noise
the thing is that if I change just the strut mount and btw for that should I buy original Acura, the mechanic will charge for the whole job like changing the struts
so that's why I was thinking to change the whole thing, my car now is just a little shy of 100k btw

Regarding the clunk noise, I am more inclined to think it is an engine mount and not struts. I had this done on my RL and because of the clunking noise, I replaced all motor mounts/engine mounts (total three).
Struts and shocks I replaced because the sign they were bad was all four tires cupping mechanic noticed and told me about it.
I think OEM engine mounts (extremely recommending to go with OEM mounts) are about $500 parts (for all three)
MOUNTING ASSY., RR. ENGINE 50810-SJA-E01 167.76
RUBBER ASSY., ENGINE SIDE MOUNTING 50820-SJA-305 148.73
RUBBER ASSY., FR. ENGINE MOUNTING (AT) 50830-SJA-305 164.4
Shipping was $25 - all together shipped around $505...

Normally the tell for an engine mount would be, do you get an unusual clunk when you shift between drive and reverse?
That said, as you've probably gathered if you've scanned the forums, these cars are prone to lunching the mounts at this age. They're made of fluid-filled rubber, and rubber rots.
As an aside, if that's the issue, you can go aftermarket for greater durability, but then you compromise the superior NVH of this luxury-oriented car. That sacrifice wasn't worth it to me, so I replaced with OEM.

I did the timing belt on it in September, honestly I don't really remember if I had the noise or not back then, and I'm saying that because the mechanic had to take one mount off to do the job, and from my understanding if not tightened at the right torque the thing can be damaged easily
I did look for some aftermarket engine mounts and I've found that innovative mounts make some that would fit the model
now I don't really know exactly how they would really feel, or if the quality is really good
if you guys have any idea feel free to share some thoughts on them

I still vote against the "aftermarket" engine mounts.

KYBs for the Legend did suck, the shock of choice is/was Eibachs. I had a '92 L Sedan and a '95 LS Coupe. The RL shock is a totally different animal, OEM ride and $85/per vs $356 for OEM that is known to have a defect. Pretty easy choice when I can buy 4 KYBs for what one OEM cost.
