2005 RL wiper blades
I'm sitting here with my strange old wiper blade, two screws from where it screwed into the wiper arm, and new Bosch replacement blades purporting to be for my make and model (this Bosch replacement model was repeatedly recommended to me by at least 10 internet sites as being suitable for my make and model).
I resorted to ordering them on the internet after my local auto parts dealer declared my older wiper (with it's two screws) to be the weirdest wiper they'd ever seen.
I don't get it. It can't be this hard. How in the hell do you get these new (screw-less) blades on this funky wiper arm that previously required screws?

As stated above, go with the inserts. It takes just a couple of minutes to swap them out. Get the super silicone inserts...they are quiet and don't streak.
28" driver's side - PIAA p/n PIA04070
19" passenger side - P!AA p/n PIA94048
Thanks for the tip.
I still can't get over what an incredibly stupid design gaffe that was by Acura. If an emergency develops while I'm on the road, the non-standard wiper thing isn't very reassuring.
Anyway, I've got these Bosch wiper blade assemblies that don't fit. I got them at a pretty good price. Anybody know if I can just transfer the blades since I've got them sitting here?

There are no aftermarket blades known to fit the 2G RL. Just replace the wiper inserts - as noted above, the PIAA Super Silicone inserts are the favorites around here. I use them and they are great.
The wiper inserts just slide out of the wiper blade assembly. Just pull the wiper arms up to the winter position, then tilt them up away from the windshield, slide the old inserts out, and the new ones in. Pretty easy.

RL wiper replacement
I agree. I ordered the PIAA silicone and they are great. It did take me a minute to figure out exactly how to replace the blades: I removed the two small screws and popped the wiper off to replace the blade. I found it easier to work on them that way but you could do it without removing the wiper.
Thanks to everyone who posted to this thread. I recently picked up an 05 RL and winter has set in. The existing blades were fine in warm weather, but are awful in cold. They miss huge parts of the windshield. I don't know if new inserts are the answer but willing to try.

This wiper problem is a real issue for me, now that winter has set in. After spending most of my weekend trying to figure out why the wipers function so poorly, I have come to the conclusion that it is not the rubber blade that is the culprit, but the wiper assembly itself. I have mine set in the winter position but they are ineffective and dangerous. The wiper gets frozen and full of ice and does not create the proper pressure on the blade, thus causing it to miss huge parts of the windshield. A proper winter wiper is needed, but my Acura dealer says no such wiper exists. Can anyone help?? I met a tractor trailer on the highway and the resulting spray of slush and wet was not cleared by my wipers causing me grave concerns at highway speed. I cannot believe that there is no proper winter blade for a $70,000 flagship Acura. Totally ridiculous

I found the Service Bulletin and it acknowledges the problem and offers a solution. My dealer checked the service records on this car and that work was never done. Bulletin came out in July 2008. Now checking to see what Acura will do, if anything. The parts alone are over $500. I really hope they come through for me, as this is a major safety issue. When you meet a veh. that splashes your car with slush at highway speeds and you can't see because the wiper has only cleaned about 20% of the drivers side, you have a problem!!!
I also just had my wipers in the winter position a few days ago and noticed that the passenger side misses a huge swath of windsheild when it wipes. It does not when it's in summer position.
However, the problem could be due to old wiper blades which I replaced today. I ordered the PIAA supersilicones mentioned above and the replacement method was not difficult at all as 007spy said he knew of people who had trouble with the replacement.

I’ve used the PIAA silicones, and they are a great blade. However, consumer report recommends changing your inserts every six months with a good insert, rather than yearly replacement with a high end insert such as PIAA. I order my inserts from an online Acura parts dealer for 3-4 bucks each. Usually I order 3-4 inserts for each side of the car so I only pay the postage fee once every couple of years. I change the blades in spring and fall, and so far no problems. Very easy to do, of course you can change your PIAA blades every six months, but that would be a little more pricy.
Next spring I think I will order some PIAA blades, use the PIAA on one side of the car and factory blade on the other, and then report back any differences I notice.

I just changed the blades for the first time on my mom's Lexus. It is a 2002 but she only has 26k miles on it and is garaged, while I change mine a couple times a year. I put 30k miles on my cars every year and often drive in lousy weather.
Agreed! The life of a wiper blade depends on many things, average temperature, UV exposure, garage kept or not, use in rain, snow, or bug removal, and lots of other factors I’ve failed to mention. I was just quoting consumer reports who said most wiper blades lose some of their effectiveness after six months. Also, from a safety standpoint, I like to replace my wipers before they go bad and the OEM inserts are an inexpensive way to do it.
Acura bails on safety issue
Here is an update on my windshield wiper issue. My dealer contacted Acura about the service bulletin work that came out in 2008 and was never completed on my veh. They basically said tough, we're not liable. The parts are over $500 and my dealer did offer to pay half. This is a major disappointment. This issue should have been dealt with as a recall, not a service bulletin. I have filed a complaint with Transport Canada, but I doubt help will be on the way any time soon. Meanwhile, I check the wipers everyday making sure they are not frozen stiff in any way, as there is simply not enough downward pressure on the blades, as they, themselves said in the service bulletin. This has really shaken my faith in Acura and Honda. I thought they were all about safety. I guess it's more about money with them.
The fact that one dealer offered to pay half of a 5 year old bulletin has shaken your faith?
If its that important I would think its worth the $250 on your end.
Or try a different dealer.

I Put PIAAs on the MDX and the kid's Camry. Would never use another insert.

I put PIAA Super Silicone inserts on my '06 in early '07, still have the same ones on the car and they clean as good as ever. I've had a replacement set in the garage waiting to be used but they just aren't needed yet. I do need to add that I keep my car in a garage, try not to drive in the rain (take the wife's MDX), and keep my windshield VERY clean - HATE dirty windows (dirt on the windshield does more to damage wipers than anything).

Winter here in Finland is also hard sometimes.
I have used to clean those wipers quite often if the weather demands.
I have checked from dealer that no recall or tsb concern my car, they didnt say if something is ever made.
That blade pressure could be stronger...
Wondering also that why they didnt made electrically heated section on the lower part of the windshield.
Like our Voyager have...
Which reminds me about small hint,
grease those wiper arm joints with some penetrating spray grease before and during the winter.
This made a big difference with our Voyager, those joints were little bit stiff but after greasing and some up and down exercise made them more movable and the pressure against windshield was much better.
