I thought that this might be of interest even though it is not technically Acura but Honda Motor Corp. Just purchased a 2002 Honda Accord VP for my 20 year old college student Daughters' first car. It is a one owner vehicle with 255,000 miles on the clock. 2.3 four cylinder with automatic trans and a 4 door. Purchased from a used car lot in Philadelphia called Robins Auto. Paid $3675.00 but here is the real deal. Joe, the owner of Robins replaced all four wheel bearings, all four brake pads, O2 sensor, new battery, wiper blades and ignition switch tumbler and a new state inspection which is good for one year here in Pennsylvania and did an oil change and filter and put in new anti freeze. If you deduct the cost of these replacement parts and labor the true cost of the car is a little over $1000.00. The car ran strong except when idling in gear only shook a good bit so I diagnosed it as a bad EGR valve. My buddy is the parts manager at a major Honda dealership in my area and I got the EGR for $140.00 which is a great price. The amazing thing about Joe at Robins is that he will fix anything wrong with the car for free as long as I bring him the parts. This is unheard of and he will do that for anyone who buys a vehicle from him. Removed the EGR valve to find it filled with rocks and a hole in it. After replacing car runs like new. I also changed the PCV valve which no longer clicked when shaken. Will change the wires, cap, rotor, and plugs and then she will be good to go. Now for the surprise. I reluctantly paid to for the Carfax and found that the car was purchased probably by a Company in Texas in 2002 and sat for 2 years probably because they were having trouble finding the proper salesman. In 2004 it had only 11 miles on it. By 2006 it had 60,000 miles on it and by 2013 it had 219,000 which means it averaged 30,000 miles a year for the first 2 years and then 22,000 a year after that. All highway miles. What a great car. Honda Motor corp rules.
