Anybody ever get a check emissions system and Check sh-awd warning light come on at the same exact time? Both showed up yesterday on my way home from the grocery story. The acura dealer was about 1 mile a way so i just headed straight there and the tech said they will have to take it in and see whats wrong but dont know if it will be covered under warranty til he looks. I'm just curious to know if anyone has ever had this happen to them before?

 

Unless the car is out of warranty, I'd like to see how they cold claim the problem wouldn't be covered.

I've come to find out that it's a standard response in that they don't ever want to commit until they know what the problem is.

For example, what if you replaced the rear diff oil with something that was incorrect. I'm not saying you did, but that's the sort of stuff they need to confirm.

If they told you that it was covered, and then they found out you caused the problem, then they would be on the hook.

 

Isn't powertrain warranty to 60 or 70K miles?

 

yes, my 06 with 28k miles had the same warning light last month. Dealer is aware of a service bulletin requiring the replacement of the EGR valve and the fuel injectors.
There is nothing wrong with the SH_AWD, after restartng the car the light goes out.

 

Whew thanks it kinda scared me.

 

What is the final resolution on this? I got the same thing happen to me this morning on my way in. First the SH-AWD light went on, soon followed by the check engine light.

Car runs fine otherwise.

 

Went to the dealer today.

The SH-AWD warning light turned off after the first restart the light went off, but the trouble code still was visible in diagnostic messages.

The Check Engine light was still on, but as is typical, it turned off when the dealer started the car.

Fortunately the trouble code was still stored.

They came back and said that a fuel injector misfired and tripped the SH-AWD light as well.

They reset the codes and ordered a new injector.

The light has remianed off, but they did warn that it could come back.

Much ado about pretty much nothing. I guess that's a good thing.

 

well my appointment was today unfortunately my warning lights went away 2 days ago. When i went in this morning i told him that the lights have been off for about 2 days now and he said dont worry about it then. if they come back on then reschedule but since they've been off it was probably just a little malfunction.

 

I looked at the service ticket again. In addition to the injector, they also ordered the EGR valve.

 

finally took my RL back in to have them look at the lights in the car. Its been about 3 weeks and it just keeps going on and off on and off in addition to having the sh-awd light come on and find out that the rear wheels werent pushing the car only the 2 front wheels. After i turned the car off and turned it back on though it worked fine. The service guy said they needs to order the EGR valve and it would be in tomorrow morning. So i should be all set by tomorrow. If this is a regular thing Acura needs to do a recall on this.

 

There is a bulletin (TSB) on it.

When I took it in for the diagnosis they cleared the code and ordered the part. I took it back a week later with the lights remaining off during that time.

BTW, they replaced the EGR valve and all six injectors.
