09 Shifter Conversion

I'm sure there's probably a write up or a conversation about this somewhere on here but I couldn't find it. Either way, my question is how difficult is it to convert the shifter portion of the dash from an KB1 to KB2.

Mainly I like how the leather boot around the shifter looks

Not worth the time and money because the swap would likely require upgrading the ECU as well. I can guarantee you it is a lot more involved than you think.

Why would you want to lose the ability to shift with the knob? $10 says you need a new tranny to make it work.

I was wondering if it was just a simple panel swap or if there was more to it.

Turns out there is. This thread is now worthless haha

Shift linkage & shift bezel would need to be replaced as well. Definitely not worth it plus I think the Pre MMC USDM shifter looks a lot sportier.

the 2005-2008 Honda Legend has a similar shifter and would likely be compatible. I am unsure if this is the same shifter that appears in the 2009+ RL.

Yea that's what I was going for, my bad for not posting any pictures.

On an side note why does the legend in that picture ^ have an actual key in the ignition? Was the intelli key not always standard?

The keyless system was a North American RL feature. There are many variances in content between the Legend and RL and even between US, Canada and China Spec RLs.

I agree...I like the way the boot looks with the shift knob. I assume that you could somehow configure the boot and shift knob to work in harmony without all of the other hassles. If the boot and knob are all you want.
