08 RL 88k for $22k good deal?
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum. I'm looking for a 2006 or newer RL my budget is about 24k . I ran into a 2008 RL with 80k for $22k, I was wondering if it is a good deal. It has a clean CarFax report no accidents, one owner, looks clean. KBB is listed anywhere from $25k-$20k PPV. I currently have a RSX and it's almost 10 years old with 199k on it, so I do trust the reliability of Honda. Just looking for some opinions.
Listing http://www.internetautoguide.com/use...113/index.html
CarFax http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...d=93854349&ema

Thanks for your time.

Joe - we just bought a 2006 RL with NAV for $22,995 12mo/12,000 Acura bumper to bumper warranty and remainder of 7yr/100,000 engine, trans and driveline warranty. Car has 59,000 on it.
If you are getting a warranty then go for it. If it has been in any accidents or there is no warranty then what if.....
Interesting for us is that the Onstar works in our 2006RL but apparently was abandoned in the 2007 and later years from what I have read here.

Joe,
If you are in TX drop me message. I just traded in my '06 RL with 78000, well-maintained (actually, over-maintained) to a dealership in Houston. I'll let you know what I got for trade-in and you can work up from there.

Torch & Pitchfork Posse
I would check that listing carefully. It claims CMBS/PAX, but the pics do not show the CMBS & ACC radar in the grille.
There are no pics of the dash, so I cannot ascertain if it is truly a NAVI (TECH) or simply a BASE (No NAVI, no AFS, no real wood, etc).
I think there is a way to determine the model type with the VIN #, but I cannot recall how.

Good deal for an '08 with that many miles. As attested to by several members, this car will keep going for many more miles.

joe,
I know that EXACT car your looking at. I live in SW michigan. I have been scoping the area for months, for a used RL. I believe its at crown motors. I called those guys, never got any concrete information, so dont wanna offer wrong impression.
But I have to say, 88k miles is a lot, absolutely no warranty...so I decided to pass on it as well. I haven't seen it in person, was going to, but the miles killed it for me. I know nationally the RL is hard to find, but wow, here in SW michigan.....its like needle in haystack. When I do find one, the dealer has it priced so out there, I just get a headache even trying to negioate.
I know harvey lexus has an 08 i think for 31ish. They weren't budging much.

Thanks for your opinion
I decided it was too many miles. There is an 06' w/tech and ACC/PAX 30k miles around me for $24k I'm going to test drive it tomorrow. I'll see if I can get it for $22k.
Is there a big difference between the 06 model and the 08? Can I put non-run-flat tires on those PAX wheels?
Thanks again, this is a great community!!

Look at the Acura RL article on Wikipedia to see the history of the car, not that many differences.
Yes, you can replace the PAX tires with non-run flats. It will be pretty expensive, about $2000 not including the spare. Is it worthwhile? Depends on your plans and tolerances. PAX tires should last a good 40K miles or more. If you get new ones, they will cost you about $2000 to replace.
If you like higher performance rubber, and/or you expect to keep the car for a while, the savings will be with the next sets of tires you purchase after the initial wheel and tire replacement.
You should also search around on this site for people that have dePAXed. There is also a longish post on PAX replacement considerations within the last week.

Found one
Thanks for everyone's input. I put money down on an 06' w/nav/acc/cbms/pax 29,000 miles for $22,700. Clean Carfax, from a Honda dealer so it is not certified but it looks to be in great shape(fingers crossed).
The only thing I don't like about it is that there isn't an AUX jack for my iphone, I listen to mostly podcast so the contains changes daily and burning them on a CD would be a pain. Other than the Neo adapter and the Acura music link is there another option out there?!?
Picking up the car tomorrow.
Thanks for everyone's help again.

Congrats! There's info in the Electronics section on various options for connecting your iPod. I used Acura Music Link when I had my 2006. Piece of crap, avoid!
