05 Acura RL

hey guys I have an 05 Acura RL with approx 153000 clicks on her. I'm trying to sell her. I have her advertised for $8000 do you all think that price is reasonable and realistic? Thanks in advance. If not what should I expect to get for her?

You should post this in the Black Market and then ask the same question.

I'll watch this thread for a while and see how it goes.

It depends on a little more than just year and mileage. The color, the condition, where you live, who your potential buyers are, ect. They all play in effect. If you have exactly what someone is looking for you might get someone that is even willing to over pay for it.

I am assuming you are posting it on Craigslist, if so, check your local listings and see what competition you have. It is also important to see how long their ad has been up. Obviously the longer it has been up, the less of a chance they have of getting their asking price posted on the ad.

So to be honest, there really isn't a straight forward answer. Everyone has their own opinion, but the only thing that matters here is what someone with cash on the spot offers. The car is only worth what someone is willing to pay, so you won't know for sure until you get serious offers or sell it. Especially with a rare car like an RL, its very hard to guess. Its not like a civic where you have tons of ads on craigslist to go off of.

Sorry for the double post, but with that ^ being said, I would post it at $8000 and see if you get any hits on it. If you don't, then lower the price until you start seeing results.

Thanks. I had a guy offer me $5700 cash. I thought it was funny but it is easy for one to have an asking price due to emotional value. I just didn't know what I should have started the asking price at.

With out seeing it in person, 8 isn't bad, but its not a quick sale price.

Take it to Carmax and see what they offer, then double it.

KBB lists private party value in "Good" condition at $6800. You might be able to get $8k but it will take some patience. You'll have to take $6k if you want to get rid of it quickly.

Don't offer less than $8k. As you have seen, the offers will be lower. Hold out until the offer that feels right comes along.

I usually check into AutoTrader to get ideas for prices. Filter to any distance and you will get a nationwide list of prices.

Thanks guys. I just left carmax and they offered me $5000. I'm taking it to the dealer I'm buying my car from and hopefully they will do better on the trade. I'd rather keep it then give it to carmax for $5000. Smh

If carmax offered you $5000, then the $5700 offer is a joke. Be patient, you will get an offer that feels right.

Also be careful, the dealer may screw you even harder than car max would. I'd say be patient and wait for the right buyer. RL's are not very well known, so it may take a little longer to sell.

How long have you had it for sale?

A week is nothing, be a little more patient. I used to sell used cars on craigslist and sold the majority of them on the weekends, so keep that in mind.
