Is there a typical mileage point where maintenance #3 will come on? Was at the dealer today and they recommended a transmission and differential change at 29k miles (2015 Acura RDX AWD). The maintenance minder was not on.

 

the maintenance minder is based off of your driving habits...it takes in account of revs, starts and stops, etc.
so, no...there is no set "mileage" for when the 3 pop's up!

Most of the time, you can chalk this up to the dealer up selling service!
but, they might be on to something! older Honda's transmissions were weak...and it was generally advised to change transmission oil every 30k miles.
but then again, they can just be upselling...

and all this info is in your owners manual. get comfortable with it!
this info is also on acura's website...if you google "maintenance minder + 2013 RDX" it'll bring you to Acura's maintenance minder page and says the same thing im saying.

 

Thanks. This was my first visit to the dealer so I think it could have been a case of upselling. It was recommended right when I dropped it off, not after an inspection of the actual fluid. I think I'll feel comfortable waiting for the 3 to come on.

 

Upselling or not, i'm going to bet your MID will be displaying the "3" soon. I believe most Azine members have reported the "3" popping up right around 30K. The "3" popped up on our 16 Advance at about 27.3K. You dealer may have been also trying to save you some time associated with a 2nd visit relatively quickly. If you are looking to save a few $$, call your local Honda dealer.
