Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch
Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch
My 16 RDX Advance with 23,500 miles started acting up several weeks ago when periodic transmission jolts about every quarter mile. When I took it to dealer the first time there were no error codes, but they did update the software. All well and good until three weeks later when the problem reoccurred. Took it back to dealer and I took the repair technicians on a test drive but could not recreate the problem (naturally). But they said they would run a computer check and look for error codes. They found error code: P848, a faulty transmission fluid pressure switch B. Parts and Labor came in at $ 382.58. I thought the repair would be covered under my 6 year/70,000 mile powertrain warranty, since the part is necessary for the transmission to work properly but they told me it is covered under the 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. I wonder what the problem has to be to be considered a "powertrain issue." Anyway I hope this helps any other second generation RDX owners who have experienced similar issues. I noticed when reading Car & Driver evaluation of Acura RDX, they noted transmissiion issues in both second and third generation RDX and Consumer Reports also noted it. I just hope this fix resolves the problem. It was pretty scary.
