Repaint worth it?
So we just broke 1000 miles on our 2014 rdx i THINK exactly a month of ownership & my landlord had someone doing work on the side of his house & scratched the rear bumper on our truck![what](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/what.gif)
Sadly i can't prove anything since i didnt see it
but its about 5" and through the paint so you can visably see the black plastic.
I'm pretty OCD so i'm contemplating having the rear bumper resprayed, I'm assuming since the paint is pretty new that there wont be any issues matching the car
Has anyone else has any similar repainting stories? We have forged metallic so i'm hoping its not a pain in the ass for them to match it

If you can find a reliable 'bumper fixer' place, they might be able to show you some examples of a 'fix' vs a complete bumper redo. I had our pearl white RX330 bumper completely resprayed for $300 back in '06...a 'fix' would have been $100 according to the estimate. Ours was more of a scrape, half-dollar size, down to black. I actually was going to try the 'fix', but the work order got written wrong and we went for the whole bumper...no problems with matching.
Of course, a "Wag more, bark less" bumper sticker would have been a whole lot cheaper.![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Forgot to add.....OUCH! ONE month ?!?!?

I'll let you know in the next 48 hours as I'm having a minor repair on my lower right rear panel. Several scratches. I supect that it will be perfect, knowing this particular body shop. Just paint, no body work. Graphite color.

The problem with the new cars these days is the plastic material used for the bumpers doesnt bond well with paint, unless it was applied uniformly in the factory. When you paint these kinds of bumpers at a shop it might peal after a while. I've seen this happen on other cars.

That's not quite accurate.
Painting raw plastic is nothing new to a top notch experienced painter. Proper technique/prepping, skill, and quality auto paint materials make the paint job. Paint and chemical companies have products specifically for rigid and flexible raw plastics.
Also the nice thing about Honda, is new bumper covers come primed from the factory so the raw plastic concerns are out the window.
A highly skilled shop can easily fix a bumper scratch back to new.
