Problem Fueling Up - Pump Clicks Too Early

Hey guys... Not sure if anyone has also experienced what I am experiencing. It happened me 3 times already. At the pump when fueling up my RDX (close to empty), the pump nozzle click to stop after 5-7 gallons of fill up. Even after I try to keep fueling up, it will just keep on clicking and stopping after 3-5 seconds. I would have to keep doing that until I know I am close to full tank.

This has happened to me several times at different gas stations using different pumps.

Some stations will crank up the volume output on the pumps to get the customers in and out faster. Some cars fuel tanks cannot accept the gas so fast and the pump will shut off prematurely. If you set the fill speed one notch slower on the handle that should take care of your problem. Some pump handles don't have the little ratchet thing to set the speed and you must hold on to the handle while it pumps. If that is the case just don't hold the trigger fully depressed.

It could also be the nozzle on the pump. It's it's old or defective it may click to early, or not at all (causing gas to spill everywhere). The latter happened to me at my first fill up with the new car.

Two of our Volvo C70s were a pain to fill. I found that backing the nozzle out just a bit and turning the handle to about 8 o'clock was the only way to fill the tank without multiple shut-offs. Thankfully, our newest C70 doesn't have this problem and I've experienced a quick shut-off only once in the RDX.
