Problem with 2014 RDX rear spoiler
My mom bought a 2014 RDX last May and after owing it a week we noticed that the rear spoiler was warped. We took it to the dealership and they blamed us saying "oh you must be parking it under a high source of heat." The car is garage kept with no heat lamps or any light bulbs really except the garage door motor hanging in the garage, the only real source of heat that hits the car is the big orange glowing thing in the sky, and we live in the Pacific NW so it's not out that often. The dealership fixed it since it was only a week old. Now today my mom goes out to her car and notices that essentially the spoiler is melting off the rear of the car. And once again the dealership is blaming us for this, when the conditions of how the car is kept has not changed.
Has this happened to anyone else owning a second gen or even first gen RDX? And what was the response from the dealership or personal mechanic?

OK, so I went out and looked at our 2013 RDX which also lives in the garage but we live in Texas and it gets super hot when driving around so heat could be a factor here, but all is fine.
I'm guessing it has something to do with a short in the connection for the break light in the spoiler. That's all I can see that is connected to it. Does the warp occur near the light? If so, have them check the electrical in that area.

It could also be parked somewhere during the day that is directing a concentrated amount of heat. Like sun reflecting off a window or mirror or something? I saw an episode of "Ask this old house" and a homeowner had melted vinyl siding from sunlight reflecting off a window. Just a thought.
The spoiler on my RDX severely warped so bad the outer corner internal mounting tabs snapped on the drivers side first, then the passenger. The entire part looked like it was falling apart. The warping on the top didn't bother me, but it got much worse over time.

I recently noticed the spoiler on my 2013 RDX is warped/rippled right dead center in the middle of the spoiler. The car is garaged at home and parked in an underground garage at work, so it's rarely parked out in the sun (though it is admittedly extremely hot here in the desert southwest, garage or no). It has never been through an automatic car wash. The car still has a little less than a year left on the warranty, but I expect the dealership will try to argue that something fell on my car while it was parked. Has anyone other than wasup2142 been successful in getting this repaired under warranty?
Damn this is a bad issue. I had a warp issue on my driver side pillar on my 2014 TL. Only had 3000 miles at the time. Dealer replaced no questions asked. I am also located in the NW. Seattle area. Both the RDX and TL sit outside but TL is underneath the OEM car cover to prevent any weather damage/ware. RDX has no issues but only has 2000 miles or so.
I haven't had a chance to take mine to the dealership and have them look at it, but I have [what might be] a stupid question. Does anyone know if the light on the spoiler is just a brake light or if it's supposed to light up all the time when the lights are on? Mine only lights up when the brakes are pressed. So if it's supposed to be lit constantly (when the lights are on), there may be something to Texdriver's idea about an electrical short.
Save the trip to the dealer re: the light, your high mount brake light is working as designed. The spoiler shouldn't be warped, that problem is worth the trip.

pretty sure the lights in the spoiler are LED and there is no way those are going to get hot enough to warp the plastic, nor do they warp in direct sunlight. Tell the dealer to pound sand and fix it. (in a polite way of course)
