Huge Hole Behind License Plate?
What on earth is the purpose of the large opening
behind the rear license plate?
Were does the water go?
It looks like it would be a great home for spiders and
other insects...
Is my RDX missing something?

There is an earlier thread on this when the 2013s first started being delivered. It was speculated that the opening allows access to lock mechanism, etc. in case repair is needed. You are not missing anything and the water goes out drains at the bottom. BTW - the entire bottom of the rear hatch is plastic similar to the bumper covers so no need to worry about corrosion.
