Gas Door Frozen Shut

I bought a 2013 RDX a few months back and am now experiencing an issue with the gas door freezing shut in cold weather. The first time it happened I took it to the dealership where they couldn't open it until the car warmed up. They said I must have gotten water in there. It has happened again today. Am wondering if anyone else out there has had similar issues and if/how it got resolved. The dealership says they have not seen this issue with the car before. Thanks!

I have not seen this before either. I am curious....did you take your RDX to a car recently that would have sprayed excessive water inside the fuel door and moisture on the cable-release assembly? I highly recommend that anyone who do use a lubricant to prevent moisture from getting inside the cable for this type of problem. If this is not the case, then I am not sure what the problem could be.....

Hi Weather - I haven't been to a car wash lately because it has been so cold. The dealership mentioned they may need to adjust the gas door. I have an appointment tomorrow morning so I'll keep you updated on progress.

Thanks!

So the dealership said that it is a defect/issue with the release 'wire' that runs from inside the car to the gas door. They have seen this with a few different acura models over the years. They have replaced it so we will see how it goes.

Interesting. On my TSX, the gas door locking/unlocking is tied to the driver's door.

Just run luke warm water over it and open the door a little, before you go to the gas station. Had this issue with a 1995 Olds Aurora V8 many years ago. If it's freezing up then it's not a cable issue.
