Alright folks try not to chuckle too hard here as I am looking for input on either dash mounted or WS mounted video cameras, anyone ?

With several trips out west (WY/CO/NM) looming I could use some actual user experience/feedback so ......

I use my gopro but its only good for short drive and is a pain to actually mount and dis mount. I'm thinking of mio myvue since it pretty affordable when compared to blackvue. Just my thoughts so far.

I have a BlackVue DR500GW-HD WIFI. US version. Very good 1080P video. The iPhone app is a bit clunky but works. Happy with it otherwise. You can check it out here:

A Good Start So Far & .....

Thx for the input fellas, keep it coming. Good video quality, yet unobtrusive w/ a max price of $300 are my intial parameters. IMO the uncluttered look of my '13 RDX dash/windshield area works as is, so the old less is better maxim applies here.

I was unaware of the Blackvue as I had been looking at an Hdvr-150 Car Camera Video Recorder Dvr which I found on AMZN Prime. Any more user feedback re. the Blackvue or ANY other cams?

^the blackvue is used by a lot of people.
google search blackvue reviews and you'll see a lot more people use it than you think and regarded pretty highly.

Its next on my wish list.
dash cams are pretty important.

Thx for the extra nudge JNS, a BlackVue may land @ my AO Wed.

GRDX any chance you have a pic. of it in your RDX, curious as to your exact setup?

The latest gen seems well received & it meets my criteria, time to get off the dime & make a decision.

I don't have it permanently installed yet. I zip tied it to the rear view mirror to test it and make sure I liked it first. What I plan to do is mount it to the windshield with the lens centered between the A pillars (that is the recommended front installation) and up as high as possible without interfering with the mirror or seeing the black dots along the top of the image. It appears the black dots along the top of the windshield is the limiting factor. Looks like with the top of the mount about an inch above the bottom of the dots will work without seeing the dots on top of the image. Then I plan to tuck the power wire under the front of the headliner and driver A pillar to a tap at the fuse box. I have not decided on also using a Power Magic Pro yet.

Also I intend to black out the silver mount and chrome ring around the lens to make it less noticeable.

GRDX thanx for the detailed response brother, a pic down the road when perm. mounted works as well.
I have a toll tag positioned behind the mirror so I'll have to work around that & find a way to conceal the power cord.

Thx to this thread It appears I have found the correct vid-cam for me, props again to you & JNS.

I would relocate the toll transponder and optimize the camera position. First look into whether or not the wifi can interfere with the transponder or vise versa and if so the distance they need to be kept apart. If they don't interfere with each other the toll tag cold be mounted just below the mount for the camera. The tag will then block part of the camera body from being seen.
