Smile What about the amazing backup camera?

Is it just me or is anyone else really impressed with it? Using the 180 wide mode, I am totally able to back in or out of any parking spot with ease.

Yeah, me too. I backup much faster with the camera view, much less head turning from side to side.

How is the quality at night? How is the camera when it is wet outside?

MY 08 RDX view is a little grainy at night; but, it still looks decent (I think brighter back-up lights would improve the image).

I always seem to get one drop of water on my camera that does not drip off when it rains 3 times a year in NM.

I have the base model with the smaller screen and find it very useful. I can only imagine it being better with the larger screen of the tech.

I haven't had many opportunities to use it at night, but I'm sure it will be a little grainy due to the low light conditions.

It is a little grainy at night, but still bright. I like the different color lines on some other models, rather than just yellow ones. I need to read the manual to know what distance do these yellow markings represent.

The hashed line is approximately 20 inches / 50 CM (tailgate open range). The three solid lines are each approximately 40 inches / 1 meter installments. Give or take.

I find that "objects in mirror are closer than they appear". When using it to back up it looks like I have a ton of space and then all of a sudden I'm right there. No problem as long I know what to expect.

ditto, from a new guy's perspective. Backup cam is a great invention - helps in so many ways.

While I do like the backup camera . . . I just last week traded in my 2012 Honda Crosstour for a 2013 RDX and my Crosstour's camera was better. And today, I took my RDX into the Acura dealership for them to install my accessories and they loaned me a Honda Civic 2013 and even that camera was better. The RDX pic isn't as clear and the colors aren't as true - my grass and trees are green, but in my RDX camera, the grass is a brown-gray - colors aren't as true as the camera in my Crosstour and Civic - maybe I have a faulty camera on my RDX, but I'm disappointed if not.

TLT....I doubt your camera is faulty....It seems that the quality of the camera of the RDX is not as good as what most people would like. Its too bad, but not a deal breaker as you said.

Camera is essentially useless in the Winter due to road salt/dirt covering the lens quite easily.

I wonder if the camera can be replaced by an after market (or one of the better backup camera Honda made for it production line)...

FYI ... I read that backup cameras are going to be required on all vehicles in the near future. It was supposed to be law already, but they are still arguing over things like 'how fast the screen has to warm up' ... presumably, some cheezy cars will put crap displays/cameras in, which take many seconds to 'warm up', thus defeating the purpose when someone jumps in their car and immediately slams into reverse and goes!

I'm more used to the backup camera screens built into the inside rearview mirror, but have to admit, the size of the RDX's screen makes quick recognition of objects a lot easier.
