Wallpaper for nav-equipped only?
Hello AZ, my first post for my first Acura.
We came from such a low place before getting our new 2016 RDX that we were fine without any packages, just a few mechanical options and AWD. So, no tech, no nav, nothing special. I've tried six ways to Sunday to upload an image for wallpaper. I can see the USB drive just fine, browse its filesystem and select files, no problem. Files around 4MB are deemed too big and don't get uploaded. Smaller files, the uploader just cycles the progress graphic on the screen for at least a minute and then says that it failed. I've tried JPG and BMP with various formatting options, along with a number of different dimensions within the limits described on page 194 of the manual.
Even though I can select the clock, or blank or the audio screen as the wallpaper, I'm wondering if one can only upload custom wallpapers if the nav package is install... because, if you don't have that, where would the wallpaper be stored with no nav HDD? Sounds (unfortunately) reasonable to me.
Anyone know conclusively?
If I'm wrong, is there any place with more detailed format specifications for wallpapers?
Thanks so much,
jyg

Of course, right after answering my question, I make some headway.
So the answer to the main question: No, uploading wallpapers doesn't require a navigation package. The audio system must have its own static RAM, beyond saving stations and other savings.
I finally had success with BMPs which were saved without "color space information" embedded in the image file. I was able to upload the minimum 420x234 and then half way to the max at 840x468. I was told that the 1680x936 BMP file was too large. All files were 24-bit. Still no success with JPG, but I really don't care since I can convert the files easily.
Hopefully this help someone with the same question
